Job Description
Job Summary
The College seeks candidates at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels. The College is seeking dynamic individuals who can provide expertise and leadership in the Media Production and Storytelling concentration. We seek candidates with innovative ideas who will be able to teach media writing, visual storytelling, video and audio production, media history, media criticism, and digital and multi-platform storytelling. The College also has a growing student media initiative, including a student film festival and an international chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ). Candidates would be expected to be qualified to support these activities.
The position also requires the successful applicant to handle student advising, course development, to serve on College-wide committees, conduct scholarly activities, including research and/or creative endeavors, and teach both undergraduates and graduates.
Requirements
All candidates for this position are expected to have a record of previous teaching experience that meets international standards, as well as professional experience and/or scholarly/creative activities in the area of emphasis. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to teach, conduct research and/or engage in creative activity and participate in interdisciplinary College efforts in addition to their specific areas of specialization.
Applicants for the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor must have a terminal degree (MFA/PhD preferred) with a specialization in Media, Film, Broadcasting, or Journalism from a QS ranked university.
Professional media experience is desirable, including broadcasting and studio work, as well as a proven track record of excellence in teaching. In addition, an established track-record of publications in Scopus listed or ranked journals is desired.
Candidates are expected to be effective teachers/scholars and are expected to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and be involved in outreach efforts to the community.
Successful candidates should have the ability to contribute to at least one or more of the College s required core courses such as: communication, media and society; professional and public speaking, media storytelling, media law and ethics, or applied media and communication research. Knowledge of entrepreneurship as well as experience in social/digital media and creativity is beneficial.
