Job Description

Job Summary

To lead the Communication & Public Affairs department in promoting the brand of Paris-Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi (PSUAD) through the conduct of internal and external marketing events and communication strategies and campaigns, ensuring a clear and seamless flow of key messages to all stakeholders. Also responsible for the design, delivery and impact assessment of press, public affairs and marketing strategies across all media platforms in order to support the achievement of PSUAD’s strategic objectives.

The Head of Communications Department will be responsible for the following:

Strategy

To develop and implement the Communication & Public Affairs department’s strategy in line with the University’s strategic plan and to ensure that all branding, communication and marketing initiatives are executed in line with the University’s strategy and values

Leadership
• To provide leadership to the Communication & Public Affairs team and to manage the day-to-day operations of the department providing guidance, encouraging teamwork and facilitating related professional work processes and to manage the continuous development of the team member

Brand Image
• To manage and maintain the positioning of PSUAD’s brand image properly in the market and to ensure PSUAD ‘core’ messages are communicated consistently internally and externally

Internal Communication & External Communication
• To supervise the implementation of internal communication strategies to facilitate employer-employee communication and to promote PSUAD wide initiatives, achievements and key messages and to ensure up-to-date (internal and external) messages are timely uploaded onto the PSUAD website, such as news, announcements etc
• To manage all media engagements across all modes of communication to ensure appropriate representation of PSUAD and to establish strong and productive relationships with media representatives
• To ensure the promotion of PSUAD through communication appropriately written for the target audience with the aim of promoting the achievements of PSUAD and to conduct impact assessment in order to evaluate external communication

Public Affairs
• To support the Vice Chancellor in developing and maintaining relationships with the local and international communities and government officials to enhance PSUAD’s visibility, services and activities
• To supervise the design and implementation of targeted programs working with the community to address their concerns and needs
• To manage the development and execution of endowment campaigns and events to raise funds for investment in intellectual capital, facilities, research etc. that are aligned to the University’s strategic plan

Event Management

To create and implement the PSUAD event calendar for local and international events and to manage the coordination of the events including the arrangements for VIP visitors and individual and group tours in campus

Marketing
• To advise faculty, research centre and the University on communication and marketing strategies they should undertake to raise awareness thereof
• To ensure the development of all promotional material, such as academic program brochures; exhibition stands; gift items etc. that reflect the University’s image, attract the targeted audience and provide a fitting momentum of the event or situation

Budget
• To ccontribute to the preparation of PSUAD’s budget by closely monitoring the department’s financial performance

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communication, or a related subject
• Master’s degree is preferred

Minimum Experience

8 years Communication and Public Affairs experience with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably in the Higher Education sector.
