The Forklift Operator plays a crucial role within the logistics and warehouse sectors, ensuring efficiency and safety in the movement of goods. This position requires an individual skilled in operating industrial trucks to efficiently lift and transport materials around warehouse facilities and other locations. The ideal candidate must have an adept understanding of equipment operation protocols and the ability to work under limited supervision. The Forklift Operator must be safety-conscious, perform tasks accurately, and follow directions meticulously while maintaining full compliance with company procedures and governmental regulations. This role contributes significantly to the streamlining of the warehouse processes and enhancing the productivity of the operation team.
Responsibilities
Operate forklifts and transport materials throughout the warehouse safely and efficiently.
Inspect forklifts and perform preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
Load and unload materials and deliveries correctly and accurately.
Evaluate and verify inventory by comparing items received against packing lists.
Assist with maintaining inventory records and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
Collaborate closely with warehouse staff and supervisors to coordinate task priorities.
Ensure workspace is organized and clean to promote safety and efficiency.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and wear protective gear when necessary.
Identify and report any forklift malfunctions or needed repairs to supervisors promptly.
Handle materials with care to avoid damage during transportation and storage.
Participate in on-the-job training sessions to enhance operational skills and safety awareness.
Follow company protocols and procedures to maintain consistent operational standards.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent education is typically required.
Proven experience operating a forklift in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Ability to obtain a valid forklift certification or license promptly.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and the capacity to take precise actions.
Strong knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
