The role of Senior Officer – Payables is crucial within any finance department, ensuring that all payments and financial transactions are processed efficiently and accurately. The Senior Officer will oversee the entire accounts payable process, from managing vendor invoices to executing payment disbursements. This position requires an individual with strong analytical and financial skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in finance or accounting roles and will be expected to contribute to improving accounting processes and procedures within the organization. Additionally, the Senior Officer will play a key role in maintaining excellent relationships with vendors and will collaborate with various departments to optimize overall financial operations.

Responsibilities
Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments.
Maintain and update records related to accounts payable transactions.
Monitor accounts to ensure payments and credits are applied correctly.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in account statements promptly.
Lead the month-end closing process for accounts payable functions.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize payment processes.
Collaborate with the procurement team to manage vendor contracts effectively.
Prepare reports on accounts payable activities for management review.
Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements.
Provide training and guidance to junior finance staff members.
Handle escalations and high-priority payment requests with urgency and accuracy.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Requirements
Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is mandatory.
Minimum of five years of experience in accounts payable or similar role.
Proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
