Job Summary
Our Middle East business is growing and due to recent project wins and the expectation of further success. This success drives the need to develop a strong capability in systems engineering, assurance, and integration for all of our projects in the region to meet an increased demand from our clients for Systems Engineering. We are now actively seeking Systems Engineers and Leads to join our dynamic and innovative team to support the delivery of projects. While we focus on Rail, we also recognise the needs of all major projects in the Middle East may benefit from a Systems Approach. Our Systems Engineering Group is passionate about the challenging questions that we face. We are solution driven and reach beyond the normal to ensure that the work we undertake will leave a lasting legacy within the railway and other sector.
As a Systems Engineer – Requirements Lead, you will be focused on developing and delivering a Requirements led approach to Systems Engineering activities across major projects within the Middle East region.
Reporting to the Systems Assurance Lead for the Middle East to deliver outstanding solutions and outcomes to our clients, you will also work closely with our clients to apply, where applicable, digital solutions and outcomes, leveraging the expertise of our non-Systems colleagues within the business.
Your role is to be working within the Systems Assurance core team, developing processes, and providing support and consultation to multiple projects. You will equally be introducing or furthering Systems Engineering at the practical operational scope of our work with individual projects. The key to success in this role is your already developed flexibility, capability, and adaptability.
You will make recommendations on the size of teams, competence, resource profiling, software tooling adaptation, scheduling and advise on requirements content for projects and bids. This role is an opportunity for you to make your mark and to pragmatically apply best practice, positively impacting on project performance.
Having significant experience within your current field, you are able to take your career’s positive and also more challenging lessons and adapt to new ways of working. Additionally, you will be a creative systems thinker who understands the application of Systems Engineering and a project lifecycle. You will be able to interpret working standards, such as BS EN 50126 and IEC 15288, and apply them to all levels of organisational structure, from portfolio, programme to project. We are looking for systems thinkers who can see the bigger picture and solve the problems that come with it. In our view it is critical that the specialism process you manage adds value to the project, and with your skills and experience, actively identifies issues and delivers ongoing value as a result.
You are proactive in the development of our Systems Engineering products, tools and techniques as well as supporting marketing and bids. You will also be resilient and capable of presenting your ideas and/or solutions to different audiences as well as being confident to challenge the norm.
Your role typically involves the following requirements management activities:
• Establishing processes and procedures to be followed.
• Championing a common core software product, currently ComplyPro but be familiar with other tools such as IBM DOORS Next Gen etc.
• Set up, management and delegation of day to day control of requirements management systems.
• Training and mentoring your direct and indirect reports, and providing support and familiarisation to engineers and managers at all levels regarding requirements management.
• Generally, your scope will initially be rail related but this is not essential, there are many other types of projects that would benefit from your expertise.
• Where practicable, supporting the Systems Assurance Core Team in driving consultancy within the client’s project and wider organisation.
• Supporting the implementation of the Systems Engineering activities and where applicable identifying, planning, and scoping new activities with the client.
• Supporting the Sales Operation with bids.
The scope for furthering your expertise, adapting it and for branching out into other areas of Systems Engineering and Assurance is there, and your personal responsibility for ongoing career growth and job satisfaction are viewed as critically important to our business. Jacobs includes for the setting of priorities to help achieve personal and business goals and encourages self-development.
